Update, finally

We haven't been standing still the last few months. We did quite a few shows (w/ the Arteries, Junky Donkey, etc. thanks guys!) and can announce we will be featured on a digital compilation album. More info about this soon, hopefully. Also we are busy with the release of our EP, which is taking way too long...
Besides that we are writing new material, so not that many shows planned. We have one though; December 19th @ Timboektoe, Wijk Aan Zee. Together with Elle Bandita, Het Brein Dat Kwam Uit De Ruimte, among others. Come down and say hi and give us beer. Thanks.

Cheerio,
Jort

Back in the NL again

We've had a blast with our tour through the UK! All the 5 shows were a success in our opinions. Hopefully we'll put a review of our tour on here asap. In the meanwhile we'd like to thank every promoter who's put us on, every band we've had the pleasure to share the stage with, every person we staid with on our short but fun tour! Thanks a lot people, this wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for you guys. You're the best.

Take care,
Jort

We are also playing a bit smaller but just as fun gig this Friday in JC Frats, Bergen, NL. Entrance is also free so feel free to free your mind at our gig that night.

Out of the studio, out of the smell of farts

Finally we're out of the stinking studio! We're done recording and we are very stoked to hear the final mix and master... It's gonna be great! Nico (Smash the Statues) did a hell of a job letting us sound like we can actually play our instruments, respect!

So we'll have an EP out soon, besides that we're now arguing about t-shirt designs. Rick is working on it, we hope to have the t-shirts by June.

Sweet Empire is on the rise so please keep checking this page for all the updates! Thanks for your support!

update: t-shirts, EP, UK tour

We're working hard on sorting out t-shirts, the lay out / packaging of our EP and a UK tour.
More info on the first two subjects soon, now we'll elaborate a bit more on the UK tour because we might need YOUR help!
We're looking for shows August 21st through August 24th. Preferably South England, but hey, that's preferably. We're not asking for much; some gas money, food, a place to stay the night would be amazing! If you can help us in any way (gig, contacts, tips, hints, etc.) please get in contact.
You can contact us via Myspace or mail us at sweetempire [at] gmail.com
Thanks a lot!

No recordings done

Well April starts off rather shitty. The recordings were cancelled unfortunately. We'll probably won't reschedule this and just go for the real deal in May at once.

The good news is we're writing new songs and they're gonna be amazing! Be sure to catch us at a concert to hear the new stuff, it'll blow you away! (how cocky sounds that, but it's true, we're amazing...) :)
That brings us to the next occasion to see us perform which is coming Friday at Victorie, Almaar, NL. Doors open @ 9pm and there's no entrance fee. See you there!

Sunday 29 March 2009

That's it for March

March, a month full of great gigs, couldn't have a happier end for us. We entered a band competition just for fun and now we've suddenly ended up in the final round! Yesterday we had to play a 20 minute gig to impress a jury. They probably liked us (or Rowald did them a "favour"), because we're in the finals 29th April @ Nozem, Heemskerk, NL. So if you're in the area; drop by and give us some support!

Besides that we still these other 2 shows coming up:
April 10th @ Victorie, Alkmaar, NL
May 29th @ Storey Club, Akersloot, NL

Next week we will be recording again. We'll record the songs we haven't recorded yet. Out of all the recorded material we'll choose some songs to re-record in a big, fancy, classy studio somewhere in May. So keep checking our MySpace for on news on this.

BTW, Lionn is going on a well deserved holiday! Think he's going to Indonesia or Thailand for two weeks, lucky bastard! So we won't have any shows or activity for two weeks in April.

That's it for now. I'm off: to Rowald's birthday. Beer and veggie shit, nice.

Jort / Sweet Empire

Recordings

The songs you can listen to on our Myspace were recorded in our rehearsal room last February. In two weeks we will do another rehearsal room recording session (about 4 songs again). We'll be choosing the best out of those two recordings and we will hit a real studio in May to record our first official release! We'll keep you posted...

Monday 16 March 2009
